Here are a few of the reasons I love this soulful new book: This book is no lightweight. I’m glad I purchased it. I think there are two ways to be sure in your calling, and both are important. The Artist’s Journey is best book for artists that I’ve ever read. Although I have been painting for a few years in oils and watercolors before, I find that although I don't struggle to make marks or with design, in the end I always end up trying too hard and the painting then loses their initial soul. I’m just looking forward to be much more involved. Studio Journey is my third course led by Nancy. It was so fun and relaxing. It is hard to overstate how transformational this can be. My own workshop teachers have pointed this out to me and I have to laugh at how ludicrous I sound! I have not taken advantage of the journey guides which is also a great idea. Conversely, I believe that many “Christian” works do not glorify God at all. And, if you address me by my name, it means you know my name — it means you’ve noticed me. And, of course, things like merit bonuses work, when that option’s available. You are full of life, full of love of life, and have a deep understanding of... It was the best experience of my own journey so far. My pottery has been mostly functional, and my painting has been plein aire, landscape. The poetry gives me pause with their profound resonance encouraging me to take myself, in my sweet life, seriously. I love activating the canvas , or in my case the paper. Sincerity — you should only ever give praise that you actually mean. So much in life is timing and you and your message have been there for me at just the right moment.
Phase 2: Advanced Praise. I adored the studio journey with my whole heart. My earlier experiences with art were always accompanied by the mentor saying, “no, you’re doing it wrong”.
I have truly become a devotee. You can only praise someone for taking the right path, when you know which path is right. Change ). This was a very very meaningful workshop for me. Love everything you send me as well and the Facebook groups. You are born an artist or you are not. To praise the sun is to praise your own eyes. The most astounding result from taking your course is that my so called 20 year studio practice of occasionally dabbling but quickly losing interest in anything that I would start now has some “legs”. I am a potter and a painter; just retired from teaching high school ceramics and art, and have moved to a new house with my own studio. Nancy shares some valuable insights. My dream is evolving every day, as I move from improving my mastery of technique to creating more authentic, more original art. Having made myself some notes, I have now a lot to work with and see my art in a different light, painting realistic and abstract. I would say that, sometimes, I am intimidated by the work of other participants. You instigate deeper and better thought and are a catalyst in helping me solidify my own changing art practice.
