When the Northern Alberta Railway arrived, most of the buildings relocated close to the railroad tracks, in what is now Conklin. Camping, picnicking, and fishing for walleye, northern pike and yellow perch are the favoured recreational activities at the lake. Most of it lies to the south of the lake and much of this portion is drained by Birch and Sunday creeks, which are the largest of the six streams that flow into the lake (FIGURE 1).
