Saint Sans, a beautiful former Methodist sanctuary, houses an eclectic group of tenants, ranging from a eccentric widow to a gregarious housekeeper; whose attempts at humor and conversation are constantly at odds with Jillian's carefully guard. I really enjoyed The Undoing of Saint Silvanus. Hi Beth, Either way, I’ll be a part and make this book club BIG!! I’ve had a complex relationship with it. But I’ve never seen him sit down with one and appear to get lost in it.

It was Moore’s first attempt at fiction. Jillian reflects some of my old insecurities—at times in the novel, painfully so. Bashshear and his family. Not sure I’d ever driven by one. I am still reading this book, and so far I love it! One day in discussions about So Long, Insecurity, [editor] Karen Watson glanced across the table and asked out of the blue, “Hey, Beth, have you ever thought about trying your hand at fiction?” I felt the heat go to my face like someone knew something on me she wasn’t supposed to know. She goes to his house which was a converted church which has a curse hiding in the darkness and only GOD can bring it out to light - and his tenants, each with their own story, and her Grandmother(who isn't so grand), all know something.
Saint Silvanus is the apartment building her grandmother converted from an old church and the renters are an odd collection that Jillian gets to know as she stays for the police investigation. It is one of the mysteries that grab you by the throat straight from the first pages. Still, that seed was down in that soil, where I figured it would always stay. WHAT the WHAT?!?!?! It’s can be one big miserable cycle.

The entire work continued with the skillful construction of multifaceted, enticing characters who we all know in real life if we take just a moment to think about it. Trying to be finished by Fri night. This isn't a preachy novel for those of you that are scared away by that. You are mighty audacious, Ms. Beth, and we sure do love you for it. Amanda has always wanted me to try it because she has memories of bedtime stories I made up for them when they were little. Put me on the pre-order list- can’t wait!
