I’ve had to dodge many runners in the bike lane. Special permits for pedal-assist/motorized bikes? Bicycles are allowed on the boardwalk during daylight hours all year long. Those three turkeys are very thin skinned… especially the ragtime Mayor, Beth Holtzman. Pedestrians also need to exercise caution. Effective clear width of approximately 14’ due to benches, light poles & railings. Others are texting on their smart phones. But the Boardwalk welcomes all kinds, the three-wheelers for adults, the fancy road bikes just passing through, the bare-chested and flip-flopped, the clipped in and helmeted. It all creates for a pretty hectic situation on the Boards in the summer, not to mention what happens on the street in the bike lanes of Margate and Longport, which summer joggers inevitably (but unlawfully) populate. Ventnor City: Ventnor City boardwalk is a very pleasant and relaxing boardwalk great for walking, biking, and jogging. Warn them and fine them so they stay on the sidewalk. Drivers go faster than the posted 25 MPH (and then get ticketed for it) because Atlantic “looks” like it’s meant for going faster (and it is). Boardwalk is wide open and safe after dark. The pile of bicycles locked (or not) outside the usual bicyclist breakfast haunts like Celebrity Corner and Bungalow will surely grow, now on through respectable brunch hours.
