I do wish they had been truer to the book...however, the book was LOADED with information which could have easily overwhelmed the movie...so I respect and appreciate what they did with this fine memoir.

However, many of the mining communities the Walls family lived in or around still operated in a similar way. We all have things from our past that we want to hide from others' judgements, but if we own them and find the good in them, we can be free to truly be ourselves, and help others as well. I read the book and still loved the movie.
